FIVE years since they were very popular, Banilad Town Centre (BTC) brings back to the public, especially for the emerging young generation, the opportunity to climb walls and ride the zip line at its parking area from April 18 to 19.
As part of its ongoing Summer Experience, BTC has dubbed the activity as “Xtreme Sports” and has commissioned the “Center of Gravity” to set up the facility and provide professional guidance to BTC customers.
“Kids and adults can experience how is it to conquer their limits and pump out their adrenalin in our Xtreme Sports,” said the BTC in a press statement.
BTC customers can experience both wall climbing and zip line ride for free on April 18 and 19 for every P500 current purchase at any BTC tenant, or just pay P50 for a wall climb or a zip line ride, the statement added.
It was sometime until 2004 and 2005 when wall climbing and related extreme sports activities supported by harness and equipment used by professionals were popular and readily available to the public in Cebu, according to Center of Gravity operator Ian Sepulveda.
Today, Sepulveda said he would see the use of his facilities in private activities, like in corporate team building and a few school fairs.
Sepulveda and his team were among the early enthusiasts in Cebu who invested in these facilities to make it a popular sports in Cebu.
“It did for quite a time,” he said. “But many of our generation have since shifted to other forms of fitness activities,” he added while hoping that the initiative of BTC will spark new public interest, especially for the new generation.
As it did for the Easter event that kicked off its Summer Experience program, BTC has tapped Junior Chamber International (JCI) Cebu-Mactan Channel to facilitate the conduct of the weekend activity.
