THINK A MINUTE
THINK a minute.
Remember the Christmas song, “Santa Claus Is Coming To Town?” It says: “He’s makin’ a list, checkin’ it twice, gonna find out who’s naughty or nice!” But there are many people who are both nice and naughty.
I grew up with a guy named Bill.
He was a very nice, honest person.
Bill was a talented actor, so after graduating from university he moved to Los Aangeles where he started acting professionally.
He eventually got involved with the homosexual community in Hollywood. Then a few years ago, when he was only 37 years old, Bill died from AIDS.
However, in the last year of his life Bill completely changed and found peace with His Maker.
Just a few days after his funeral, I talked with Bill’s mother.
She told me what he said to her before he died.
He said: “I’ve always tried to be a nice person, but I now realize that I’m also an immoral person. I do things that are clearly wrong, like getting drunk and living a homosexual lifestyle. I know now that being nice and kind is not enough to make me right with God, my Creator.”
Jesus Christ said that many nice, kind people are also immoral people.
They won’t control their appetites and desires for pleasure.
These nice people do things that Jesus teaches are very wrong and sinful, such as adultery, getting drunk on alcohol, high on kava or drugs, homosexuality, and other things.
They think that it’s fine to do what feels good as long as they don’t hurt anybody else.
However, the actual fact is they are hurting their own family members and others, as well as abusing their own bodies.
Most of all, they are cutting themselves off from God their Creator by rebelling against Him, just so they can keep living for themselves.
Jesus Christ and the Bible show us how to enjoy physical pleasures the way that won’t hurt ourselves and others.
Jesus also made it clear that just being a nice person is definitely not enough to make us right with Him.
Since He is our Maker, He knows the only way that we can ever have real satisfaction and peace which lasts.
So it’s the only way we can be saved from the terrible pain and suffering that will come on us from our wrong way of living.
So for your own safety and happiness, won’t you ask Jesus to forgive you and help you start changing and living His way for the rest of your life?
Just Think a Minute.
